Anniversary Images
One of the areas where the official websites tend to score, is the availability of the anniversary image. When a unit or an aircraft have an anniversary to mark, quite often it is marked with a special colour scheme.
Solo Display Image
One of the other areas where these sites tend to score is before the display season, they will often have images of that years solo display aircraft. A number of Air Forces often will have a number of designated display aircraft depicting a range of types, events like The Royal International Air Tattoo can attract a number of these display aircraft.
If you are unable to attend the event for any reason, although this year (2026) the RIAT event was cancelled. You can quite often download a good quality image from an official website, the one above came from the Digital Visual Information Distribution System it is public domain and free to use.
